today was the day....

wellllll....after lots of deliberation ....... we put Boo to sleep today. She won't be in pain any longer. It was kind of tough because she acted like happy Boo as much as she could and wagged her tail, but any free moment she had, she would lick and gnaw at her tumor. The last few days she really went to town on it. We had lots of dried blood on our back patio and little bits around the house. Luckily most of it was on our tile. Two of Jeff's very good friends came by during their lunch hours today to say good-bye to her. It was so nice of them to do so. Then, Jeff's best friend came over since they got her together around 15-16 years ago. I took the boys over to a friends house and met Jeff, Dave, and Boo at our Vet's office. After lots of bawling by us and a very quick shot it was over. It put her to sleep so fast. It's so sad, but soooo nice to know that she is in a better place now. About 30 minutes after we came home I cleaned up every sign of Boo and Jeff removed our doggie door. We figured it would probably be best for the boys that way ("out of sight, out of mind"). After they came back home, Hudson just made one quick question wondering where Boo's food and water bowls went. I said they went bye-bye and then he just went on like normal. I don't think either one even noticed that the doggie door was missing yet. Sooo, the next few days and beyond will be weird and very rough on Jeff the most. At least he has a family now..unlike 5.5 years ago when he had to put Otis down. At that time, it was only him and Boo left in the house. Here's some pics from over the weekend. I'm going to try and get some of these scrapped for Jeff for Valentine's Day.

******

I feel weird even writing anything else right now. I was going to, but it just doesn't seem right.

SO sorry to read this - our kitty passed away last night and my kids are so broken up so I know what a cloud it creates over the family. Best wishes to both our families with the healing process.
